Survey, notification and records
Notice to the district runs ten working days ahead of any demolition, any dry removal, and any job removing regulated asbestos in quantities of 100 square feet, 100 linear feet, or 35 cubic feet or larger. When 100 square feet or more of asbestos-containing construction material is disturbed, the contractor must hold Cal/OSHA registration and tell the nearest DOSH office about the job.
Keep one file per building: the survey with the consultant's certification number, the J# letter and any date revisions, the contractor's Cal/OSHA notice, clearance results, and the waste shipment record that the disposal site signs and returns. Cost follows surveyed quantities, phasing and access, and the waste class; the price lines above cover a survey, one unit and the common areas, and a whole building is priced after its survey.
Between tenants, units also see floor and ceiling work; asbestos floor tile and mastic removal covers the flooring side. The Hayward Asbestos Removal homepage sets out the testing rules for houses.
